Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed news that Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma has granted a request to allow American Samoa and the other Territories to spend the last amount of certain ACA money that is otherwise set to expire this coming December. Ordinarily, American Samoa would have to spend the normal annual block grant first before accessing this supplemental funding.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed this week's first look at the House Interior Appropriations bill, which contains her request for a third straight yearly increase for American Samoa, which is over $2.5 million more than the federal budget proposal for American Samoa Government.

"The Committee recommends $24,120,000 for American Samoa Operations, $400,000 above the enacted level and $2,591,00 above the budget request," states the Committee's report on the bill.

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed House passage of a slate of Veterans bills, including several she cosponsored, and took part in a Committee hearing on the ongoing problem and national tragedy of Veteran suicides.

The House passed three Amata-cosponsored bills: The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act, H.R. 1200; The Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William Bill Mulder (Ret.) Transition Improvement Act, H.R. 2326; and the Support for Suicide Prevention Coordinators Act, H.R. 2333.
