Washington, D.C. –Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata welcomes the awarding of an annual federal grant of $67,148 from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to the American Samoa Government for the management of hazardous materials incidents. The grant, awarded to the American Samoa Department of Homeland Security (ASDHS), will help ASG and ASDHS develop, implement, and improve its emergency plans concerning these hazardous materials incidents.

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming inclusion of American Samoa’s federal matching rate for Medicaid, known as FMAP, in a Continuing Resolution that would fund the U.S. government until December 16, 2022. This extension would allow Congress time to complete major appropriations, pushing current funding a few months past the official end of the fiscal year.

The grant will fund research into the prevalence of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias in American Samoa for a period of three years.
