Washington, D.C. –Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming the announcement of $1,502,172 in funding for the American Samoa Government’s transit projects and priorities. The federal grant, administered by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) of the US Department of Transportation (DOT), provides direct funding to state and territorial governments, which then decide how much money to provide to transit agencies and providers.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is delighted to announce the nominations of 11 excellent students from American Samoa for consideration by the prestigious military service academies in 2023. As the students can apply to more than one academy, there are 17 nominations in all.

Congresswoman Receives Waiver to Serve on Three Committees

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata was blessed to attend the services in memory of Bishop Emeritus Vaopunimatagi John Quinn Weitzel in representation of the people of American Samoa, and Bishop Peter Brown flew from American Samoa and was there for the Diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago. He presented to the family some gifts of love which were given to him to hand-carry to Bishop Weitzel’s family.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata will continue to serve on the House Committee on Natural Resources for the 118th Congress, as she has throughout her time in Congress. The Committee has oversight of the U.S. Department of the Interior and insular affairs, and legislates policy of direct importance to the territories.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata Coleman Radewagen (R-AS) expressed her pleasure that U.S. negotiators last week reached initial understanding with the governments of the republics of Palau and the Marshall Islands on general financial terms to extend the Compacts of Free Association for the next 20 years.
