Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted House passage this week of two bipartisan bills providing for special honors with commemorative coins, both of which she cosponsored. H.R. 1865 honors our nation's law enforcement community with a National Law Enforcement Museum Commemorative Coin, and H.R. 2423 creates the Women's Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin to honor the 100-year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment guaranteeing the right to vote for women citizens in the United States.
Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed federal funds for American Samoa through the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Department. This discretionary grant is designated to the American Samoa Department of Health.
The grant provides about $70,000 (specifically $69,976) in support for maternal and child health services.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata announced she is an original cosponsor and lead Republican of a bipartisan effort to assist women entrepreneurs. The bill sponsored by Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) was introduced this week to help reestablish federal coordinated efforts aimed at helping women-owned businesses succeed.
Specifically, the bill would reauthorize the Interagency Committee on Women's Business Enterprise (ICWBE), a U.S. government entity that would be tasked with coordinating federal resources to help women-owned businesses grow.
Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted congressional action from 2015 resulting in a Government Accountability Office (GAO) study team's current efforts in American Samoa to report on the Territory's minimum wage.
"In 2015, I sponsored a bill which passed into law, in which Congress directed the GAO to conduct this study of our minimum wage for 2020," said Aumua Amata. "I'm happy to see the GAO team at work here in American Samoa, learning firsthand about our economy, so we can have the best possible minimum wage policy going forward."

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming four grants from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), totaling $1,272,409 for American Samoa.
The grants, from four different programs within OVW, include two grants for the American Samoa Alliance Against Domestic and Sexual Violence in Pago Pago of $350,000 and $242,217. Two grants are for the American Samoa Criminal Justice Planning Agency in Utulei, and those amounts are $618,450 and $61,742.
