Washington, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Aumua Amata took part in a variety of hearings, including examining a fishing report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), reviewing efforts to protect Veterans from online fraud, along with hearings on supporting rural and remote small businesses, and updating child protection services in Native American communities.

Washington, D.C.—Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming House passage of a small business bill that also support Veterans.

On Wednesday, the House passed the bipartisan Verification Alignment and Service-disabled Business Adjustment Act, better known as the VA-SBA Act, H.R. 1615. Congresswoman Amata cosponsored this bill, introduced by Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS). This bill came through the Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Committee on Small Business, and she serves on both.

Washington, D.C.—Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming House passage of a bill honoring the World War II service of "Rosie the Riveter."

The Rosie the Riveter Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2019, H.R. 1773, which Amata cosponsored, recognizes all the women in the United States who joined the workforce during World War II. The bill attracted widespread bipartisan support, and has a counterpart bill in the Senate.

Washington, D.C.—Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming House passage late Tuesday of a group of bipartisan and broadly supported Veterans' bills, including two that she cosponsored.

"On the week of Veterans Day, the House is voting on a series of Veterans bills," said Aumua Amata, Vice Ranking Member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs. "Our nation has serious commitments to our Veterans for the rest of their lifetimes. These bills each address some aspect that's important to a portion of our Veteran population."

"God bless all of our Veterans on this Veterans Day," said Aumua Amata. "Everywhere I go in the U.S. or traveling internationally, I find some of our own serving our country in uniform. Our Veterans have been all over the world serving with honor. They've made us proud, and each one has contributed to the building of a special tradition of service throughout our islands.

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming Senate passage of her requested third straight year of additional funds for American Samoa's operations. The bill passed with unanimous support in the Senate and will now be conferenced with the House bill. It will provide about $2.6 million more than the federal budget proposal for American Samoa Government, boosting the operations budget by another $400,000. This follows similar increases Amata secured of $718,000 and $250,000 the past two years.
