Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed a federal Department of Transportation grant of about $2.8 million for road rehabilitation because of Cyclone Gita.

"I'm pleased to announce more federal funds for our Territory's efforts to rebuild and have a full recovery from Storm Gita," said Aumua Amata. "This grant will benefit our Territory, and help pay for the efforts to put storm-damaged roads in good shape."

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed a federal grant based on Storm Gita totaling nearly $2 million ($1.925 million) for American Samoa Power Authority.

"I'm pleased to welcome these federal funds to our islands to continue to help restoration efforts in American Samoa following Storm Gita," said Aumua Amata. "The accumulation of federal funding like this can make a big difference for our Territory, and I'm happy to pass along this good news."

New Zealand's Ambassador to the United States Rosemary Banks visited American Samoa's congressional office recently for a discussion of the Pacific region at the start of the 116th Congress.

Pago Pago – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata held a town hall meeting with Veterans in American Samoa to discuss the status of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other federal services, including the partial federal government shutdown. The purpose of a town hall meeting is to speak face-to-face with constituents, hear their concerns directly, and update them on the work being done in Washington that affects American Samoa and Veterans.
