Washington, D.C. –Friday, The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 10 Financial CHOICE Act yesterday. Included in H.R. 10 was Congresswoman Amata's bill H.R. 385, which would eliminate the long wait times for checks to clear in both American Samoa and the Northern Marianas.
Washington, DC –Thursday,Congresswoman Aumua Amata, was pleased to announce the awarding of $380,447 in maintenance assistance funding from the Department of the Interior, Office of Insular Affairs. The funding will be used for three initiatives to improve power utilities and provide technical training and education in the Pacific Insular region including American Samoa.
Washington, D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was pleased to announce that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded the American Samoa EPA a grant in the amount of $866,000 for local environmental sustainability and rehabilitation projects.
U.S. EPA Acting Regional Director Alexis Strauss stated, "The American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency has been a great partner in environmental protection. We are pleased to support its programs committed to achieving a better environment for all the residents of American Samoa."
