Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is hailing the pay raise for the military in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025, passed Wednesday by the House with a vote of 231-196. The House voted to raise pay for U.S. Service Members by 3.8 percent next year, building on this year’s pay raise.

Moose, Wyoming — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata took part in a Friday hearing of the House Committee on Natural Resources, held in Grand Teton National Park, discussing renewal of the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA), which provided a generational surge in support for national parks over the past five years. Amata was one of seven Members of Congress participating in the hearing, aimed at having America’s national parks ready for next year’s 250th anniversary of the country and beyond.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is highlighting notice of $353,303 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Justice for the American Samoa Alliance Against Domestic and Sex Violence. 

The one-year grant is from the DOJ’s Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) for the State and Territory Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions program.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata gave remarks Thursday at the Interagency Group on Insular Affairs (IGIA), a special mid-year session hosted by the Department of the Interior (DOI) at their DC headquarters, and focused her remarks on several issues that are critical to the local economy of American Samoa, and called for full inclusion in federal programs like SSI and removing the Medicaid cap completely.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is highlighting a successful congressional effort that flagged problems with mail delivery to U.S. territories and Hawai‘i, then secured a response from the United States Postal Service (USPS) to undertake corrective actions that “will improve the timely and accurate processing and transportation of mail that is designed for deliver in areas outside the 48 contiguous states.”

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming bipartisan House passage of a bill she cosponsored, the PARTNER Act, officially the Providing Appropriate Recognition and Treatment to Enhance Relations Act. The bill, passed by voice vote, specifically extends diplomatic privileges to the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) as well as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and others, bolstering U.S. efforts in the Indo-Pacific.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Amata Coleman Radewagen, vice chairman of both the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific and the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs, the two main congressional committees with legislative responsibility regarding the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), expressed “shock and dismay” when told of the devastating fire at the Nitijela building in Majuro yesterday.
