Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed $1 million in federal funding for Fitiuta Airport.

"The Fitiuta Airport is essential to travel between Manu'a and Tutuila, and an important asset to American Samoa," said Aumua Amata. "The FAA is recognizing the need to maintain our runway there for our long-term use, and this is good news from the FAA."

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed House passage of legislation that includes her cabotage provision to promote reliable air service in American Samoa. This solution has passed the House before, but not yet in the Senate; however, this time the provision is included in a major bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which passed the House by a vote of 393-13, and the U.S. Senate will also need to act to authorize the FAA.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted the first steps in developing a national infrastructure plan, which President Trump urged in this week's State of the Union Address, and said she will work to bring attention to American Samoa's needs in Congress. The draft planning effort includes unspecified investment designed to address infrastructure needs on tribal lands and U.S. Territories.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed newly introduced companion legislation from the honorable Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, the President pro tempore of the U.S. Senate, that mirrors her bill to ensure reliable air service in American Samoa.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was pleased to welcome a $67,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the American Samoa Government for hazardous materials safety.

"American Samoans greatly appreciate our first responders, and all they do to be ready in time of need," Aumua Amata said. "I welcome this funding for the preparation and safety of emergency personnel and the people they serve in any potential crisis."

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was pleased to announce more than $10.1 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the Pago Pago International Airport.

"These efforts to preserve and update the Pago Pago Airport are major projects that deserve this funding," Aumua Amata said. "American Samoa must always have a dependable, accessible and well-maintained airport to help counter our economic and geographic isolation."

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was pleased to announce a $3 million revitalization grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the Pago Pago International Airport.

"I welcome this continuing financial support for this important project," Aumua Amata said. "American Samoa depends heavily on airport access that can support long-distance travel, and revitalization efforts help ensure a great airport for the future."

Washington, D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was pleased to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded American Samoa three grants totaling $2,000,000.

"This important funding will help ensure that our airports in Tutuila, Ofu, and Fitiuta will be preserved and rehabilitated," stated Amata. "Our airports are important to our welfare as they allow for people to travel not only to Hawaii and domestic U.S., but between islands as well."
