Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed important congressional news for American Samoa. The House of Representatives today passed H.R. 268, an Emergency Appropriations bill for Disaster Assistance for the many States and Territories suffering from wildfires, hurricanes, flooding and other disasters including Cyclone Gita which devastated American Samoa.

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata provided information on the status of the partial shutdown of the federal government, and will not be taking her congressional pay until the shutdown ends. She also suggested that people should take time to pray for all the leaders of both parties, that they might have wisdom and be able to come together.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed House passage of a short-term funding bill to keep the government open, ensure that the Interior Department continues to operate for the Territories, and provide a new disaster relief package for all the major storms and wildfires of 2018, including American Samoa and Cyclone Gita.

Pago Pago – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming $4 million in federal funds to American Samoa for four essential operations: American Samoa Government, LBJ Tropical Medical Center, American Samoa Community College and the High Court of American Samoa.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata reported a listing comprised of most of the major federal grants welcomed throughout the past two years to American Samoa.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed over $1.375 million in federal funds to American Samoa for LBJ Tropical Medical Center and other energy infrastructure.

"The Interior Department is releasing four different energy infrastructure grants to American Samoa, totaling $1,375,816," said Aumua Amata. "Two of these are designated for LBJ hospital projects, another to the shipyard and another to American Samoa Power Authority."

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed a total of $535,000 in federal funding for two health-related programs in American Samoa.

"Federal funds like these are especially necessary to American Samoa's efforts to provide as many health services as possible," said Aumua Amata. "I appreciate these federal resources, including $285,000 for our health programs and another $250,000 for mental health and opioid services."
