Washington, D.C. –Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was pleased to announce that the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, under the U.S. Department of Education, has awarded American Samoa two grants totaling $6.9 Million.
Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata gave moving remarks this past weekend at American Samoa's first ever Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Summit at the Rex Lee Auditorium in Utulei. The theme of this year's summit was "Exploring STEM College, Career & Trades Pathways through Partnership".
Washington, D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was delighted to be visited by the students involved in the Department of Interior Close-Up program. The students arrived over a week ago for a two week visit to Washington, where they have visited various different attractions.
Washington, DC – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata announced the winner of The MALOFIE Congressional Art Competition. The competition was held on April 21st, 2017 at the Sadies-By-The-Sea Hotel; the winner's piece will be displayed in the US Capitol building with other pieces of art from across the country. Nine entries from both public and private high schools from the territory competed for the honor.
Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, sent out her heartfelt congratulations to two American Samoan students who were offered fully qualified offers of appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Her office was notified on Tuesday by the Naval Academy.
Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata sent her heartfelt congratulations to Shania Fiu, upon learning of her acceptance to the prestigious Wentworth Military Academy & College for the 2017-18 Academic school year.
"I could not be more proud of Shania, and I look forward to seeing her fulfill her dreams of serving our great nation. Wentworth Military Academy is well known for producing some of the nation's finest individuals, and I am proud to see a daughter of American Samoa there to represent us," stated Amata.
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced that the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has awarded a grant of $2,143,469 to American Samoa Dept. of Education (ASDOE) in supplemental funding for the American Samoa Head Start Program.
Washington, D.C. –Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced that the Administration for Native Americans (an office of the Administration for Children and Families under DHHS) has awarded a grant totaling $298,964 for the establishment of a youth development and peer leadership project.
Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, on her way home over the weekend, stopped off in Los Angeles to participate in the Annual Sisters Alumni of the South Pacific scholarship award event.
