Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, "I am excited and honored to be with you today. I cherish these occasions, because we Samoans are particularly proud of our brothers and sisters who serve in the armed forces to protect the freedoms we all treasure, and even more so, because I come from a family with a strong military tradition. My grandfather served in the Navy and was part of a team that helped set up a local government in American Samoa in the early 1900's.
