Washington, D.C.—Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming this week's examination in the Veterans' Affairs Committee of a bipartisan bill to strengthen oversight at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which was introduced in February by Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-NY) and Rep. Aumua Amata (R-American Samoa).

Washington, D.C.—Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata hailed House passage of bill she cosponsored, H.R.4305, the Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) for Veterans Therapy Act.
Through this unique bill, Veterans will learn the art and science of training dogs. This can give the Veteran a new mission and new skills while gaining personal health benefits throughout time with a dog in training. Upon completion of the program, the veterans may choose to adopt their dogs to provide continuing therapy.
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed House passage of the Identifying Barriers and Best Practices Study Act, H.R. 4183. This bipartisan Veterans' legislation was introduced by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), with Rep. Amata (R-AS) as the lead Republican on the bill and original cosponsor.

Washington, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Aumua Amata took part in a variety of hearings, including examining a fishing report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), reviewing efforts to protect Veterans from online fraud, along with hearings on supporting rural and remote small businesses, and updating child protection services in Native American communities.
Washington, D.C.—Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming House passage of a small business bill that also support Veterans.
On Wednesday, the House passed the bipartisan Verification Alignment and Service-disabled Business Adjustment Act, better known as the VA-SBA Act, H.R. 1615. Congresswoman Amata cosponsored this bill, introduced by Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS). This bill came through the Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Committee on Small Business, and she serves on both.
Washington, D.C.—Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming House passage of a bill honoring the World War II service of "Rosie the Riveter."
The Rosie the Riveter Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2019, H.R. 1773, which Amata cosponsored, recognizes all the women in the United States who joined the workforce during World War II. The bill attracted widespread bipartisan support, and has a counterpart bill in the Senate.
