"I welcome these funds to help our educators in American Samoa as they develop reading skills in our students," said Aumua Amata. "High literacy skills are essential for students as they look forward to graduating and pursuing their goals."

"I appreciate this financial support for American Samoa, particularly for healthcare needs," Aumua Amata said. "Federal funding enables many efforts that otherwise would be difficult to finance in American Samoa, and health related funding is always welcome."

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata released a statement on the news that the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have announced an agreement with StarKist Co. and its subsidiary StarKist Samoa Company, in which the companies will make a series of upgrades to reduce pollution, improve safety measures, and comply with certain federal environmental laws at their tuna processing facility in American Samoa.
