Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata hailed Committee passage of a bipartisan bill to strengthen the future of fishing. She is an original cosponsor of the bill and was pleased to vote for it on Wednesday in the Natural Resources Committee, where it passed by unanimous consent. The bill promotes the development of the next generation of commercial fishermen with new federal grant support.
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is delighted to announce the nominations of 10 excellent students for consideration by the service academies.
Each year, these select nominations are based on the high quality of the students' combined academic records, essays, along with letters of recommendation from their teachers, church leaders and local community leaders, plus the required verification that they have already applied separately to the academy or academies of their choice.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed the announcement by DOI Assistant Secretary Doug Domenech of nearly half a million in federal funds for the public health emergency response to the Pacific measles outbreak.
Specifically, the Department of Interior is awarding $490,000 in federal funds for American Samoa through the Office of Insular Affair's Technical Assistance Program.
Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was humbled and blessed to spend several days over the holidays, including Christmas Day, with U.S. troops in the Middle East. A group of eight Members of Congress welcomed the opportunity to help serve a Christmas meal to hundreds of U.S. service men and women, tour installations, and visit those deployed in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Sicily.
