Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed $500,000 in federal funds for a rescue and fire vehicle for the airport serving Manu'a.

"I'm delighted to welcome this federal provision for a dependable rescue and fire vehicle at the airport on Ofu," said Aumua Amata. "The U.S. Department of Transportation recognized this important need to be able to help save lives and property with the proper equipment. It's always essential to ensure that all of our islands are served and included in federal resources."

McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2019, H.R. 5515, in a signing ceremony at Fort Drum, New York, where the President and Vice President Pence visited troops and toured the military installation. The new law builds on the recent improvements in the 2018 NDAA and provides for increased troop levels, higher pay, and other support for the men and women in our Armed Forces.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata attended the moving Honor Carry Ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawai'i receiving back the remains of Korean War fallen American soldiers repatriated from North Korea. Vice President Pence and Indo-Pacific Command (PACOM) Commander Admiral Phil Davidson, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawai'i, invited military officers and Korean War veterans were there to pay respects to these honored soldiers on their way to a properly marked resting place in the United States.

"The Fitiuta Airport is essential to travel between Manu'a and Tutuila, and an important asset to American Samoa," said Aumua Amata. "The FAA is recognizing the need to maintain our runway there for our long-term use, and this is good news from the FAA."
