Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, introduced the Veterans Education Enhancement Act of 2016 (H.R. 5174) this morning. The bill aims to make several modifications to the G.I. Bill, to improve the benefit for our veterans, service members, and their dependents.

Washington, D.C. –Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, would like to provide the people of American Samoa a quick update on some of the federal funds coming to the islands.

Washington, D.C. –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations conducted a hearing entitled, “The Consequences of Federal Land management Along the U.S. Border to Rural Communities and national Security”. The hearing focused on the challenges to maintaining rural communities and securing the border under federal land management regimes.

Washington, D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and the House Small Business Committee conducted a hearing on small business tax simplification and reform.

Pago Pago –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, expressed her sincere gratitude to House Education & Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline for his support of a most generous increase in funding for the elementary and secondary education divisions of the American Samoa Department of Education (ASDOE). The increase is the result of a new formula that Congresswoman Amata was able to negotiate into the bill. This change in formula will allow for an estimated 67 percent increase for elementary and secondary education in the islands.

Pago Pago –Sunday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, assisted in opening the Lions Club meeting at American Samoa Community College (ASCC) yesterday, by leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
