Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a grant in the amount of $400 thousand to the Pacific Youth and Community Development program; as part of the Community Food Projects (CFP) program to support the development of solutions to food insecurity and access to local and independent food systems for low-income communities.

These funds are in support of their new initiative to promote Sustainable Employment and Economic Development Strategies (SEEDS).

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, took to the House Floor on Monday in support of her bill, H.R. 2617, which passed by unanimous consent. The legislation, which has been modified after negotiations between Amata and the Senate, passed that body today and has been returned to the House for a final vote, where it is expected to pass unanimously, before being sent to the President's desk for his signature.

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced the awarding of an Administration for Children and Families / ACYF - Family and Youth Services Bureau grant in the amount of $70,000 for the Pacific Youth and Community Development's Pasefika Youth Project.

"I am happy to announce that these funds will go directly to help our youth and families in American Samoa. I would like to thank Mr. Tupua Roy Fua, the Project Director, for his outstanding work in getting this grant," says Amata.
