Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, stopped in Honolulu while en route to her home district in American Samoa Monday to meet with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) District Commander LTC James Hoyman and his team. So that Congress can provide additional help, Aumua requested a detailed briefing and status report on all of the Corps' support to American Samoa including all projects and studies, their financing, economic justification, high cost of construction and other challenges.
Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and Congressman Joe Wilson took time over the past weekend to visit the soldiers at Ft. Jackson, S.C. The Congresswoman and Congressman were there to join the soldiers and the local Pacific Islander community in celebrating Guam Liberation Day.

Washington, D.C. –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, Last month, for the first time in American Samoa, a Service Academy Nomination Board was selected by Congresswoman Aumua Amata. The board met in Tafuna to review applications and interview the applicants competing for a nomination to one or more of the four service academies.
Washington, D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, attended a luncheon briefing that was hosted by the U.S. Navy League on Capitol Hill. The topic of the luncheon was the status of current worldwide United States Naval operations and the Navy's role in our national security.
"It is vital that we as Members of Congress are regularly briefed on the operations of our military in regards to our national security. We rely on these briefings to formulate sound policies that will help us better protect our nation," stated Amata.
Pago Pago –Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, joined a group of Army Reservists on Monday for their induction ceremony to officially become United States citizens.
Washington, D.C. –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata's, local district office will be teaming up with the U.S. Air Force Academy's Admissions office next week to conduct outreach to some of the local high schools and organizations.
