Washington, DC – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata announced the winner of The MALOFIE Congressional Art Competition. The competition was held on April 21st, 2017 at the Sadies-By-The-Sea Hotel; the winner's piece will be displayed in the US Capitol building with other pieces of art from across the country. Nine entries from both public and private high schools from the territory competed for the honor.
Washington, D.C. –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, sent out her heartfelt congratulations to two American Samoan students who were offered fully qualified offers of appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Her office was notified on Tuesday by the Naval Academy.
Washington, DC –Thursday, House Republicans today passed HR1628 The American Health Care Act. This is the first step in the Republican plan to fix the American health care system. The passage of this bill does not affect the health care services in American Samoa.

Washington, DC –Wednesday, Aumua Amata gave an inspiring speech to the Asian and Pacific Islanders employees of FEMA yesterday. Speaking from the heart, the Congresswoman spoke on her own experiences as a Pacific Islander American, and what that means to the people of the region. The Congresswoman's words were well received and portrayed the sincere love all Asian –Pacific Islander Americans have for our great nation. Prior to speaking, the Congresswoman was encouraged and inspired by the stories of others that were at the celebration.
