Pago Pago – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata issued the following statement in recognition of Veterans Day 2018:

"Veterans Day is a special milestone for the whole nation to join together in recognizing all our Veterans, their service and sacrifice, and what they mean to our Country and our Territory. Ultimately, Veterans Day is also a celebration of the great cause of freedom, which unites us all. The strength of our nation's Armed Forces helps guarantee that freedom and peace for the next generation.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming $335,000 in federal support for the American Samoa Department of Homeland Security.

These funds are derived from the Congressional mandate to create a nationwide public safety broadband network for police, firefighters, emergency medical response and other public safety professionals. The funds are distributed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, led by Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Amata Highlights Marine Corps Birthday

Pago Pago – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted the anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps, which dates to 1775, and celebrates 10 November as the service's start date.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming $560,000 in federal funds for the Territory's cooperative agreement with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for coral reef conservation, along with a related grant that also includes American Samoa.
